You can also stream in from a mobile device. There are a number of free applications out there but the best mobile streamer seems to be for iOS or Android devices. Recently Larix changed their business model and no longer offers free applications, however their offering is still compelling for those who need professional streaming capability from a mobile device.

We tested a *ton* with Larix during Streamwell’s development, and successfully streamed from a 7-year old iPhone 5S for more than 72 hours straight, stopping only out of boredom and hunger. Wonder how we did it? Check out this video for a step-by-step setup:

Despite Larix dropping the free model, there are a number of other streaming apps on the App Store which work for RTMP or SRT streaming. Others we've tried include (which itself appears to be a very similar app to Larix) and but there are dozens of compatible apps out there and the workflow indicated in the video above is similar for all of them.

On iPad, Teradek offers a more full-featured app called which also works quite well, and includes a paid version that acts more like a video mixer.
