Streamwell works great with the amazing "Talon" encoder lineup, designed and manufactured by in the USA. These silent beasts tear through the traditional 1080p / 8-bit streaming barriers with support for 4K output with HEVC (H265) video and 10-bit 4:2:2 colour 🦅🌈

These are our recommended settings for streaming into Streamwell from the Talon encoders:

RTMP/RTMPS (H264 8-bit)

Notes:

  • GOP Size should be 1x or 2x the frame rate

  • Encoding profile should be Main or Baseline

  • GOP Mode should be Low Delay P

SRT (H265/HEVC & 10-bit)

Notes:

  • GOP Size should be 1x or 2x the frame rate

  • GOP Mode should be Low Delay P

  • For 10-bit, encoding Profile should be Main 4:2:2 10, not Main 10

  • For 10-bit, Color Processing should be 4:2:2 10-bit

  • H265 and 10-bit are not mutually exclusive.

  • H264 (8-bit) also works over SRT, and is still recommended for sub-second latency.

SRT Encryption is , but not required.

While H265 does use less bandwidth, it also consumes 2x the processing power on both encode and playback for 8-bit, and 3x for 10-bit. There is also an additional few seconds of latency when playing back in a web browser. So just because you can stream H265 doesn't mean you always should 🦖 (See for more)
