Web Browser Streaming
Use the Control Room
The Streamwell Control Room lets you stream or share your screen directly from your web browser instead of using third-party streaming software or hardware. All the convenince of a Teams or Google Meet screen share... with no Teams or Google Meet in the middle 😄
Once enabled under Administration -> Server -> Features, you can open the Control Room for any channel from the home screen:

The Control Room opens in a separate window so you don't have to stay on your stream page to keep transmitting. First you will be prompted to share either your screen/window, or a video device like a webcam or OBS virtual camera:

From there you will be prompted to choose your Video/Audio devices and a maximum resolution:

Once everything is set, check your smile and click 'Start Streaming', then you're live just like any other live stream!

Use the camera and microphone buttons to quickly 'mute' your video or audio source mid-stream.
For screen sharing, you will be prompted with your systems native picker to choose either the full screen or a window and can switch your source at any time by clicking the 'Choose Screen to Share' button:

Some important things to consider when streaming from a web browser are: Firstly, you are streaming from a web browser. Different browsers will exhibit different encoding behaviours. None of them will be frame-accurate or look as good as a dedicated software or hardware encoder, and the quality will "ramp up" for the first few seconds of the stream. The resolution is dynamic and is ultimately decided by the browser, so workflows like recording and HLS playback might not work as well when streaming from the Control Room.
In our testing performed in March 2026, the current front-runner for browser-based encoding is... ready for this... Apple Safari. But Chrome, Firefox and Edge all handle it fine as well, just as if you were in a Google Meet or Teams call in the browser.
