If you are serious about quality and reliability, a hardware encoder is the way to go. Using a hardware encoder removes the entire stream encoding workload from your computer and gives you benefits like better audio monitoring, video passthrough, local recording and push-button streaming.

Virtually any hardware encoder which supports RTMP or SRT can send a stream to Streamwell.

Certified Encoders 😍

  • (or Ultra Encode)

  • Blackmagic (or the new Web Presenter HD/4K)

  • Haivision Makito X

  • Datavideo NVS Series

  • Teradek Cube / Prism Series

  • Uray UHE Series (Affordable encoder on Amazon and AliExpress)

  • MultiDyne NIA Series

  • QVidium QVEnc / QVCodec4K

Uncertified Encoders... which should work 😅

If you have any of these available for a quick streaming test, please !

  • Epiphan Pearl Series

  • LiveU Encoders

  • Matrox

  • BirdDog

  • Videon

  • YoloLiv (Yolobox)

Encoders that do not work 😖

  • AJA Helo - and by association, any other AJA encoders too.

We are constantly verifying hardware encoders and seeking to build out guides/integrations for each one as we encounter them. If you have an unlisted hardware encoder that you'd like to use or get certified please contact us and we would love to help you check it out!
